With an accounting diploma, you’ll have a ticket to a number of different entry level jobs within this diverse field, including Bookkeeping, Payroll, Auditing, and more.

When it comes to applying for accounting jobs, you’ll want to first consider whether the private or public sector is right for you. In public accounting, you’ll work for big firms, performing tax, forensic, auditing, and other services within a corporate setting. Some of your work may be client facing, providing forms of financial assistance and accounting-related customer service. Within the private sector, you’ll be working in-house for one single company, conducting internal work for a range of different organizations. You might also consider working for government organizations, nonprofit agencies, or other organizations which provide financial services.

Once you’ve determined your area of interest, you can decide what kind of career you’d like to pursue within that particular field. After earning your diploma from Saskatoon Business College, you’ll be prepared to land a number of entry-level accounting positions. Below, discover three possible careers to consider.

1. Become a Bookkeeper After Your Accounting Program

If you’re great at multitasking, are highly organized, and have strong customer service skills, a career as a bookkeeper could be right for you. Bookkeepers will also generate monthly or quarterly financial reports, produce balance sheets, and perform month-end closings. After earning your accounting diploma, becoming a bookkeeper is a great way to explore your interests in the accounting field, given the varied nature of their tasks.
